AGA SURF VIEW – Tangalle
Oh I love this little find! Beach front, luxurious villas, relaxed atmosphere and great coffee, that they roast and grind themselves. Seriously you don’t have to leave.
Located about 10 minutes by tuk-tuk from Tangalle, the beach is not crowded and if you are wanting to go for a little walk I recommend checking out Silent Beach. The villas are spacious, clean, attractive, with great bathrooms. Don’t miss this little paradise.
HIDING UNAWATUNA – Unawatuna
So close to Unawatuna beach and the shops – only a 1-minute walk, but far enough away that you can’t hear the noise from the energetic street. The rooms are large, clean and tastefully decorated. A great feature is the grassy garden and having the option to sit quietly with a cup of tea while watching their two ducks walking around. The owners are extremely lovely and always happy to have a chat and recommend activities.
SAYURA BEACH HOTEL – Unawatuna
I love this location – especially if you have kids. The hotel is located right on the beach but includes a coral reef and a safe natural ocean pool so young ones will feel safe running and swimming in the water. Then, if you are all beached out there is a pool and a sun terrace to keep everyone happy. All rooms have an ocean view and a balcony, so with the balmy nights being perfect you can recluse to your room with a cocktail and stare the night away.
GALLE FORT HOTEL – Galle Fort
Go on… treat yourself! The Galle Fort Hotel is a cocoon of calm in the middle of Galle Fort. ‘Set in an ornate Dutch mansion and former warehouse dating from the 18th century, this upscale boutique hotel with a Regency-era top floor and a Palladian colonnade is less than 6 minutes’ walk from Galle Fort, the National Maritime Museum and the Galle Lighthouse.’ The pool is perfect and inviting after a long day of walking around town – which I love to do. The staff are lovely and there’s lots to see and do in very easy strolling distance.
MANGO HOUSE – Galle Fort
Mango House is a small boutique hotel set in a beautiful garden of mango trees and palms. It is where old elegances meets hip contemporary Asian feel and if you are wanting a well-priced hideaway to escape the streets of Galle Fort, then you have found it. The rooms are comfortable, clean, light, airy and have everything that you need.
NISALA VILLA – Hikkaduwa
If you are wanting privacy, then this is it! A one-bedroom villa all to yourself with a private swimming pool. Located about 2.5km from the beach, it is set amongst gorgeous greenery with an outdoor shower and a relaxed vibe. The rooms are large, stunning and clean. This is ideal for romantic couples.
CORAL SANDS HOTEL – Hikkaduwa
Who doesn’t love waking up to the sound of the ocean and walking out onto your balcony to be greeted with salty air, blue skies, green grass and palm trees? Well that’s what I experienced and loved it! This is a casual, relaxed, airy hotel with modern décor and friendly staff. Diving and snorkelling facilities are available onsite and if you are lucky you may see a turtle swimming on by.
